Psychological Therapies

Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind offers a free and confidential psychological therapies service as part of a new service being offered throughout Teesside.

This service is for people experiencing:

  • depression, and/or
  • anxiety.

If your difficulties have not been diagnosed by your GP, or you are not sure if this service is right for you, please do contact us and we will see if we can help.

The service is provided on a one-to-one basis, but some group sessions may also become available.

We will work with you face-to-face, by telephone and by email, depending on what is appropriate for you.

Following in initial assessment, you will be provided with up to 6 sessions of therapy.

You will work with the same worker for each of your weekly sessions.

We can also organise for an interpreter to be present at the sessions if you feel this would be helpful.

During the sessions our worker will help you to look at ways you can cope by using the skills that you already have and also by exploring new techniques that can provide different ways of coping. We may ask you to practice these techniques outside of the sessions so you are confident you can use them on your own in the future. Throughout the time you work with us, we will keep a check of the good effect the work is having, so that you can see the improvements you are making.

How can I get the service?

This is easy to do.

You can:

  • Ask you GP to make a referral to us.

We will then arrange a time to telephone or meet up with you.

If we are able to help you, your therapy will start within 10 working days.

Where is the service based?

The service provided from our offices on Grange Road, Middlesbrough or from local GP practices.
